Hi everyone!
I’m Alex, And I am part of the Education program at Uvic. I come from a smaller town in northern BC with a hockey lifestyle programmed into me. Hockey was always a huge part of my life growing up, It basically occupied every weekend and every week-day. I ended up giving the sport up when I was 18, And from there I have pursued my passion for the outdoors. Now days my spare time is spent out on the ocean or up in the woods. During the fall I am not around much, whenever there is a break from school or work I head off on my own searching for Columbia Blacktail Deer. These little deer are a smart, warry species that sometimes can be impossible to find. Their low population here also doesn’t help much. While I spend my time and money looking for these guys I see a lot of cool things along the way. Vancouver Island has an amazing array of different animals from Elk to bears wolfs, cougars. Even smaller guys like grouse, martin, many squirrels and far to many more to mention. When I get the chance I try my hand at photographing these animals and it is definitely something I am not the best at, but I will get better!
